Ford’s electric crate motor isn’t terribly expensive either, with a retail price of $3,900. However, it’s important to note that this price is for the motor only – it doesn’t come with a battery pack, control system, transmission, or traction inverter.

The new motor is already available at online retailers for the price of $3,900, and Ford said it plans to release more individual electric vehicle (EV) parts in the future, such as battery systems and motor controllers that can be retrofitted into existing internal combustion engine vehicles.

Ford's production electric pickup, the F-150 Lightning, will go on sale next year. In the meantime, the Eluminator electric crate motor is available to purchase online now for $3900, and it's street legal in all 50 states.

Ford has started selling an electric crate motor based on the one that powers the GT version of the Mustang Mach-E. The “Eluminator e-crate motor” makes 281 horsepower, 317 pound-feet of torque, and costs $3,900.

The assembly is 570 mm (22.4 in) long. Ford Performance charges $3,900 for the motor, which comes with low- and high-voltage wiring harnesses, and a vent tube.
