Cargo pants or cargo trousers, also sometimes called combat pants or combat trousers after their original purpose as military workwear, are loosely cut pants originally designed for rough work environments and outdoor activities, distinguished by numerous large utility pockets for carrying tools.

The pants of a military uniform are called trousers, and they are identical in pattern and color to the blouse.

The Army Combat Uniform (ACU) is the utility uniform worn in garrison and in combat zones by the U.S. Army. It consists of a jacket and trousers in the Operational Camouflage Pattern (OCP), worn with combat boots and a t-shirt.

BDU stands for Battle Dress Uniform. A BDU is the garment worn by armed forces personnel during active duty and while undertaking combat missions. A BDU is not the same as an ASU, which stands for Army Service Uniform and which generally is worn for parades and formal functions.
