Find the 16-digit code on the back of the card. For some gift cards, you might need to peel or gently scratch off the label to see the code. On your Mac, open the App Store. Click your name or the sign-in button in the sidebar. Click Redeem Gift Card. You might need to sign in with your Apple ID.

Open the App Store to redeem a gift card on your iPhone or iPad. In the top-right corner of the screen, tap on the "Sign in" button or your picture. If you haven't signed in, you'll need to do so now. In the menu that appears, tap on "Redeem Gift Card or Code," and a new window will pop up.

To use an Apple Gift Card or your Apple Account Balance in the Apple Store app, shop and add what you’d like to your Bag. Tap Check Out (don’t choose Apple Pay). Now, choose Add a gift card or look for Apple Account Balance to use all or some of it. After entering an amount, tap Apply in the top-right corner. You can now place your order.

You can also send a gift card. In the App Store, tap your profile icon at the top of the screen, tap Send Gift Card by Email. Then follow the onscreen instructions to personalize and send your gift.

Gift cards can also be redeemed at physical Apple stores by using the physical card at checkout. Once you redeem a gift card in the App Store, however, you won't be able to use it at a physical Apple Retail Store unless you have Apple Pay on an iPhone or Apple Watch.
