The Syro-Malabar Catholic Church is an apostolic church which traces its origin to St. Thomas, the apostle who landed at Cranganoor in 52 AD and founded seven Christian communities in Kerala. The early Christian community of India was called St. Thomas Christians.

The Holy Qurbana, which refers to the Holy Eucharist, is the divine liturgy of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church Confession is available Monday-Saturday, before and after the Holy Qurbana, or by appointment

Classes are taught by adult catechists from the diocese, who actively proclaim and live out Church teachings and share traditions of the Syro-Malabar church with the next generation. All teachers are required to complete orientation, Safe Environment training, and participate in Continuing Education Units (CEUs) every year.

Catechists should follow the textbooks provided by the St. Thomas Syro- Malabar Eparchy (Diocese) of Chicago, while also using Holy Scripture, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and modern means of communication available to engage our children in

Simply put, the DYA is all youth and young adults who belong to the St. Thomas Syro-Malabar Diocese of Chicago who are between the ages of 14-35.
