Eddie Howe admits Newcastle United struggled to cope with Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson in Chelsea’s 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. Chelsea made a strong start to the game and thought they had taken the lead in the first half though Palmer before his effort was rule out for offside following a call from VAR.

On whether Newcastle deserved something: "I felt we did for the character shown in coming back. I thought there were a lot of positive things, a lot of very good football. I felt as though we were chasing the game, we were moments away from scoring at any moment."

There was then some boos directed at one decision Howe made during the match which came when Sandro Tonali was withdrawn on the 68 minute mark. The Italian midfielder has completed just one full match since signing for the club last summer and some of the away end made their feelings clear when he was selected to come off once again.
