The family of the boxer who died a week after a title fight in Belfast say they are "very touched" by condolences.

A book of condolences was opened at the Ulster Hall yesterday after the tragic death of 28-year-old Irish boxer John Cooney.

The 34-year-old from Nicaragua moved to Holland and has been training with the Eli J Club at FITIN 24, 91 Douglas Ave. He is currently ranked No. 15 in the world.
