The former Mets and Yankees infielder died Monday in Murrietta, California, at 75. Jay Horwitz, vice president of alumni relations for the Mets, confirmed Randle's death.

Lenny Randle, a 12-year major league veteran who once punched his manager and also got down on his hands and knees on the infield grass to blow a baseball foul during a game, died Dec. 29. He was 75.

Lenny Randle, who famously tried to blow a baseball into foul territory while playing with the Mariners, has died.

Randle, along with being known as a member of the first Texas Ranger squad in 1972, was well known for his multiple skirmishes as a Ranger. In 1974 during a game against Cleveland, Randle was hit by a pitch thrown by Cleveland’s Matt Wilcox.
