Passengers were stuck on a Eurostar train in the Channel Tunnel for two-and-a-half hours after an apparent breakdown of the London to Paris service.

Hundreds of passengers faced festive travel misery after a Eurostar train broke down in the Channel Tunnel leaving them stuck for two-and-a-half hours.

Eight hundred Eurostar passengers were stranded for hours in the Eurotunnel due to a train breakdown, causing further delays. Staff provided drinks during the wait and snack boxes on the replacement train from Calais.

Chaos struck on the Eurostar this morning as more than 800 passengers were stuck on a train in the channel for two-and-half-hours. The train had departed London St Pancras at 6:01am this morning and was due to arrive at Paris Gare du Nord at 9.
