AI-powered weapons scanners used in NYC subway found zero guns in one month test
A pilot program testing AI-powered weapons scanners inside some New York City subway stations this summer did not detect any passengers with firearms — but falsely alerted more than 100 times.
NYC's subway weapons scanning pilot program "objectively a failure," critics say
A 30-day pilot program of using scanners to detect weapons in the subway is over. According to the NYPD, some 2,749 scans done during the pilot program. There were 118 false positives, the NYPD said.
