Kaleb Johnson rushed for 109 yards and three touchdowns, and backup quarterback Brendan Sullivan added another rushing touchdown, as Iowa defeated Northwestern 40-14 on Saturday.

It was a slow start for Iowa running back Kaleb Johnson. He was held to five yards rushing in the first quarter and just 36 total in the first half. But, it seemed like the offense opened up for the Hawkeye back once Brendan Sullivan entered the game.

Iowa’s first three drives of the game with Sullivan at quarterback were three-and-outs. But the Hawkeyes broke through on the fourth with a five-play, 52-yard touchdown scoring drive. After mostly being bottled up to that point, Johnson broke through for a 26-yard score. Iowa took a 12-7 lead into halftime.
