NASCAR is introducing a new rule that will award one point to the team and driver with the fastest single lap in each race.

NASCAR will award the driver and team with the fastest lap in each Cup, Xfinity and Truck points race with a bonus point this season. The award will be known as the Xfinity Fastest Lap award and go to the eligible driver and team in each race.

There’s a fast way to pick up extra points during the 2025 NASCAR season. The new Xfinity Fastest Lap program will award a race point each to the driver and owner of the car with the fastest lap during the race,
