Nevermind that it was after midnight. When Peggy Coppom’s phone rang and Colorado athletic director Rick George was on the line, the 99-year-old Buffaloes’ super fan answered.

After going 4-8 in 2023, CU head coach Deion Sanders said his first goal for 2024 was to get super fan Peggy Coppom, who turns 100 next month, to a bowl game. Saturday’s win secures that goal and keeps the Buffs in contention for more.

Early on in this game, it was all Buffs. After forcing a three and out, it took Colorado no time to get on the board. First, a big play broke open and Jimmy Horn Jr. took the ball to the house, but a taunting call after Horn flashed the peace sign while strolling into the endzone would bring the ball back and force the Buffs to score a second time.
