The Prime Minister will continue cosying up to the EU by dining his Danish counterpart this evening after jetting to Brussels yesterday.

The constitution and EU relations minister delivered a major speech this morning setting out the framework for the government’s “Brexit reset”. Nick Thomas-Symonds, a longtime close ally of the prime minister who resides in the Cabinet Office,

European Council President António Costa said the summit would focus on devising “the closest relationship it will be possible to build together.”

Sir Keir Starmer is heading to Brussels to join a gathering of European Union leaders – the first time a British prime minister has done so since Brexit. Starmer is heading over the English Channel for talks focused on defence and security co-operation and will also meet Nato Secretary General Mark Rutte.

Strengthening Britain's relations with Germany was the focus of a meeting between German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Sunday. Scholz met with Starmer at the Chequers country estate outside of London.

Keir Starmer provoked further anger over his plans to unpick Brexit by agreeing to hold a UK-EU summit in Britain. Downing Street confirmed the event will take place in May despite widespread dismay that the Prime Minister is being too cosy with Europe.
