After Jeff Bezos's Blue Origin nailed its first-ever orbital flight, Elon Musk's SpaceX is seizing back the spotlight on Thursday with the latest launch of Starship, the gargantuan next-generation rocket that could one day ferry humans to Mars.

The 123-metre-tall rocket, which Elon Musk hopes to use to colonise Mars, is scheduled to lift off from the company’s Starbase facility in Texas at 4pm local time (10pm GMT), with Starship featuring several major upgrades for its seventh flight test.

Tonight, the rocket which is designed to be able to reach Mars will launch again, with a window starting at 10pm GMT. This will be its seventh test flight, and will be livestreamed from south Texas. At 122m tall, Starship is designed to help humans go interplanetary, colonising Mars. Nasa also intends to use it to take astronauts back to the Moon.
