Following snow, sleet and ice that arrived in the Big Bend and South Georgia Tuesday due to a winter storm, a large stretch of a major highway shut down Wednesday evening.

The Arizona Department of Transportation announced major weekend traffic closures for the Broadway Curve Improvement Project.

The improvement project along Interstate 10 near Sky Harbor International Airport continues to cause weekend road closures and lane restrictions.

I-10 east from Gramercy in the Baton Rouge area to the Mississippi state line has remained closed since Tuesday after 10 inches of snow dropped on the New Orleans area. Trucker Alexis Barnett was trying to make the trip Wednesday from Destin to Sarasota when Florida shut down I-10 and re-routed traffic onto Highway 90. Florida Highway Patrol Sergeant Dylan Bryan said one semi-truck involved in the crash became "engulfed in flames" when the collision happened.

Interstate 10 continues to be closed in both directions from the Alabama, Florida state line to Exit 192 in Gadsden County.

A 200-mile stretch of interstate-10 through the Panhandle that was closed for most of the day has completely reopened. The Department of Transportation reopened the last section from Jackson County to Tallahassee at 7:00 p.

Per Florida Highway Patrol, I-10 from mile marker 5 to mile marker 56 is CLOSED. The Barrancas Avenue Bayou Chico Bridge was closed in both directions at 4:58 p.m. because of ice, according the Florida Department of Transportation.
