Netflix has had a strong year for awards season elsewhere this year. For the Emmys, it received 107 nominations across 35 titles, winning 24 awards. At the Golden Globes, it received 36 nominations and won 7 awards. Most recently, Netflix earned 15 BAFTA film nominations, with winners yet to be announced.

Actors Rachel Sennott and Bowen Yang announced the nominees for the 97th Academy Awards. Jacques Audiard’s “Emilia Pérez,” the Netflix narco-musical about transgender identity, dominated the list with 13 nominations.

LOS ANGELES, CA – The Indian short film Anuja has been nominated for Best Short Film (Live Action) at the 97th Academy Awards. It will compete against Alien , I’m Not a Robot , The Last Ranger, and A Man Who Would Not Remain Silent.

Meanwhile, if you want to stream something without paying a rental fee, twisting-thriller “Blink Twice” hits Prime Video and comedy “Saturday Night” lands on Netflix. The latter is the perfect watch ahead of SNL’s big 50th birthday bash.

Emilia Pérez leads the 2025 Oscar nominations, which were revealed Thursday morning. The film scored 13 noms, setting a record for a non-English-language film. That surpasses the previous record holders, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Roma, which each earned 10.
