Where and when snow and 100mph winds will hit UK after Met Office weather warnings issued - The Met Office has issued a red warning across Northern Ireland and Scotland

The Met Office yellow alert came into force at midnight and runs until 11.59pm tonight. Wind gusts could be up to 54mph in the early hours accompanied by heavy rain and the alert warns of a 'danger to life' from flying debris.

The Met Office said the newly-named Storm Éowyn could bring powerful gusts to exposed coasts in Northern Ireland, northern England, northwestern Wales and western Scotland.

But as Storm Éowyn starts to sweep in from the west in the early hours of Friday, parts of Northern Ireland will see snowfall, especially Londonderry and Omagh. By 3am, the snow will reach parts of central and southern Scotland, moving north east through the country as the weather front continues to move.
