Areas north of Houston and Harris County are under a tornado watch through 6 p.m. Sunday as a powerful cold front slices through Southeast Texas.

As a coast-to-coast winter storm slices across the U.S. Sunday and Monday, severe thunderstorms are expected to fire up across portions of the South on the warm side of the storm system.

Like the past couple storm events, we still expect the bulk (if not all) of the severe weather to occur outside the Brazos Valley today.
