Some creatures — like maggots — love to feed on decaying fruit. New research shows that they associate the texture of food with how tasty it is, too. So how did researchers figure that out?

In one diet, most meals had textures allowing for rapid consumption, at a rate of about 50 to 60 grams per minute. In the other diet, meals had a slower consumption rate, around 30 grams per minute.
