The Salt Lake City Police Department announced Wednesday they made an arrest in connection to an alleged illegal gambling operation in the Ballpark neighborhood.

The public safety plan will increase police presence in high-crime areas downtown, in the Ballpark Neighborhood and the Jordan River area. The plan includes placing security cameras at parks, enforcing park curfews and improving responses to businesses affected by crime.

Salt Lake City police say they foiled an alleged gambling operation in the Ballpark neighborhood, according to a Wednesday news release. The department said the bust came after “an extensive undercover investigation” that led detectives to believe illegal gambling was happening at the business My Podzzz,

An Officer Involved Critical Incident investigation is underway now in Salt Lake City following an officer shooting a man during a traffic stop early Thursday morning.
