Blizzard is bringing back 6v6 matches in testing for Overwatch 2 when it launches its next season in December. The company had previously switched the series to a 5v5 format, and Blizzard is now trying these tests to find how it can “make the core game even stronger” through a balanced new version of the classic 6v6 mode that lets each team have multiple tank characters once again.

After opening the door to the return of the 6v6 format on July 25, the team's most recent announcement has revealed that Blizzard will hold two 6v6 tests during Overwatch 2 Season 14. Blizzard has revealed some details for its tests of six-player teams in Overwatch 2. When the transition from the original game took place just over two years ago, Blizzard switched to a 5v5 format.

Blizzard’s test of the return to 6v6 format will kick off during season 14 of Overwatch 2, which should start on or around Dec. 10. That first test period will be a variation of
