NEW YORK (PIX11) – Residential parking permits could be coming to a neighborhood near you. Several New York City councilmembers have proposed a new law and it’s now up to Albany to approve it.
The legislation requires that no less than 20% of all spaces within the permit area be available to nonresidents. Short-term parking for such drivers would be allowed for a maximum of 90 minutes.

It would reserve up to 80% of parking spaces for residents during designated hours, not including streets where commercial or office space exists. The revenue would fund road repairs in the area.
