Just after President Donald Trump was inaugurated, the CBP One app ceased operations. The app had facilitated immigration appointments for hundreds of thousands of migrants, and the abrupt shutdown reportedly left migrants devastated.

CBP One was launched in 2020, allowing foreign vendors to schedule cargo inspections. In 2023 the Biden administration expanded its functions to include unauthorized migrants seeking asylum. This Monday, on Inauguration Day, an order from Donald Trump put an end to the program, and thousands of scheduled appointments were canceled.

In Mexico City, some migrants have built tent cities and slept on the streets. In a country long sympathetic to migrants, neighbors are protesting.
