The demise of Shari’s restaurants in the Northwest has accelerated, with confirmation its remaining restaurants in its home state of Oregon are closed. The CEO of the restaurant’s parent company confirmed in an email to the Oregon Lottery that all of Oregon’s Shari’s restaurants were now closed, according to multiple Oregon media outlets Monday.

The Oregon Lottery keeps a close eye on Shari’s because the retailer’s video lottery terminals generate substantial revenue. (In an earlier story about Shari’s troubles, KGW reported the chain collectively generated more than $34 million in lottery revenues last year, earning $7.45 million in commissions.)

Shari’s restaurants in Oregon have closed their doors due to financial difficulties, leaving employees and customers in the dark until the company’s official closure was announced.

Open all night, and many of them close to the freeway, the restaurants in low-roofed hexagonal buildings had been a mainstay for Interstate 5 roadtrippers since the 1970s.
