If you’re traveling to the United Kingdom next year, there’s a new form Americans must fill out. You’ll need an electronic travel authorization (ETA) from the UK government beginning Jan. 8.

Renewing a UK passport from overseas costs £101 (€123), while a certificate of entitlement comes with a £550 (€658) fee. Both application processes take several weeks.

Finally, the ETA application process will open on 5 March 2025 for European nationals, and it will become a mandatory requirement for them if they seek to travel to the UK on or after April 2025.
