Delta Air Lines is doing away with Basic Economy seating – sort of. The airline will fold the base fare into its new Delta Main category – previously called Main Cabin – for flights departing Oct. 1 or later,

Delta Air Lines on Thursday announced plans to shift its fare structure, with new branding for its various tiers of ticket packages launching Thursday, for flights scheduled for Oct. 1 or later.

Delta Main Basic is effectively a repurposed Basic Economy fare. With these fares seats are not assigned until check-in, and it has the lowest boarding priority. The Extra fare includes a seat selection, earlier boarding, and an option to cancel for a refund.
