President Donald Trump, who made the deportation of immigrants a central part of his campaign and presidency, said Wednesday that the U.S. will use a detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to hold tens of thousands of people who can't be sent back to their home countries.

The administration’s border czar, Tom Homan, said U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement would run the facility in Cuba and that the “the worst of the worst" could go to Guantanamo.

President Trump announced Wednesday he plans to open up a detention center at Guantanamo Bay to hold up to 30,000 migrants who are living in the US illegally.
