Anderson and his recently completed 150 steam engine pulled four other steam tractors up a 15-percent grade with no problem. The 150 Case was built back in the early 1900s.

“I grew up in the steam engine hobby, with mentors, friends and these guys taught me a lot,” Anderson said. When he was 10, he went to a Case expo in Rollag, Minn., and met Hedtke.

After Case died in 1891, the company went through many changes. The company’s first equipment with gas engines came out in 1895, but they continued making steam tractors until 1927.
