The Houston Astros have announced their preliminary Spring Training roster today, which includes 40 players on their 40-man roster and 23 non-roster invitees, for a total of 63 players. The full roster is attached to this release.

Houston's infield looks well set for the upcoming season. However, MLB Insider Hector Gomez reported that the Astros aren't done yet, offering a one-year, $4 million contract to free-agent infielder Jorge Polanco. Polanco, a 2019 American League All-Star with the Minnesota Twins, played last season with the Seattle Mariners.

Touted infield prospect Cam Smith will be among the non-roster players invited to major-league spring training, the Houston Astros announced Friday. Smith, 21, was acquired by the Astros in the trade of Kyle Tucker to the Chicago Cubs this offseason and immediately became Houston’s top-rated prospect by some outside evaluations.
