Over furious objections from Mayor LaToya Cantrell's office, State Police cleared New Orleans' largest homeless encampment on Wednesday ahead of three massive concerts from pop star Taylor Swift this weekend,

Local officials in New Orleans expressed frustration on Tuesday over a reported Louisiana State Police plan to quickly clear a large homeless encampment underneath the Pontchartrain Expressway.

Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry ordered state departments, including its police, to relocate homeless people before Taylor Swift's Eras Tour stop.

But he made no promises that the state would call its plan off. He denied that Troop NOLA was moving to shutter the encampment ahead of an estimated 150,000 visitors to New Orleans for Taylor Swift's weekend concerts, saying that enforcement actions are taken "for the betterment" of New Orleans residents.
