Labour Party leader and Prime Minister Keir Starmer has confirmed the cap on bus fares will be raised from £2 to £3 in a blow to commuters

Britain's new government will cap bus fares in England at three pounds ($3.89) in 2025, an increase from an existing scheme which expires at the end of the year and caps the fare at two pounds, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said on Monday.

The £2 cap on bus fares will be replaced by a £3 cap from the end of the year, Keir Starmer has announced. There had been widespread anger over reports Chancellor Rachel Reeves was not planning to renew the cap when the funding expires at the end of this year.

Millions of people could be forced to pay higher bus travel prices if Rachel Reeves scraps the country-wide £2 cap. The Chancellor is expected to get rid of the £2 cap on Wednesday (October 30) in order to save the Treasury £350million a year.
