SWAT is based on the 1975 ABC series of the same name, and stars Shemar Moore as Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson. Shawn Ryan and and Dettmann executive produce with Justin Lin, Neal H. Moritz, Marney Hochman, Pavun Shetty, Billy Gierhart, Moore and James Scura.

CBS has canceled its long-running action drama “ S.W.A.T. ” after eight seasons and 163 episodes, the show’s producers and stars were told on Thursday. But this represents the third time “S.W.A.T.” has been cancelled by the Eye net — so it’s probably tough to tell at this point if it’s really, really the end.

CBS has opted not to renew the Shemar Moore-led procedural for a ninth season, an individual with knowledge told TheWrap. The news comes as “S.W.A.T.” rolls out its eighth and now final season, whose season finale will now serve as a series finale.

The series was first canceled after six seasons in 2023, then revived for another season, canceled again, and then revived again.

It can feel like TV shows never really die these days, but usually that's because they find life elsewhere. We'll see if S.W.A.T. resurfaces elsewhere.
