India coach Gautam Gambhir said veteran batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli still have a future in the team if they want it, despite disappointing returns on the test tour of Australia.

Gautham Gambhir has insisted that any decision about the retirements of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will be made by the players.

Rohit Sharma made clear that sitting out of the fifth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy was a decision he took himself even as he shot down the retirement rumours.

Indian test skipper Rohit Sharma said sitting out the final match of the series against Australia due to poor form does not mean he will retire, adding that critics will not decide when he should walk away from the sport.

Rohit Sharma, who has opted out from Sydney Test because of his “poor form,” says the Indian captaincy should be earned. When asked who he think will be the next India captain, Rohit said on Star Sports: “It is difficult to say. It is very difficult to say. There are many boys.”
