Despite the fact that Russell Wilson appears to have a firm grasp on the starting quarterback job for the Pittsburgh Steelers, head coach Mike Tomlin still expects Justin Fields to be ready to go if his number is called upon.

As expected, the debut of Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson wasn't well received by all of Steeler Nation. This was only made worse when Wilson came out of the gate and struggled in the first quarter against the New York Jets.

PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin says the team never considered using backup quarterback Justin Fields in a goal-line package. Throughout the week, Tomlin had left the door open that they would play both quarterbacks, but Fields never played. Instead, Russell Wilson took all the snaps, with Fields watching from the sideline.
