John Deere has announced another round of layoffs at its Ottumwa, Iowa plant. In a statement to Brownfield, the company says approximately 75 production employees will be placed on indefinite layoff effective February 7th.

Monday was also the first day out of a job for 112 workers at John Deere Waterloo Works after the layoffs announced in December.

John Deere has notified state officials it will lay off 75 workers from its Ottumwa plant next month. Last year, Deere offered early retirement to over 100 employees at the Ottumwa facility and, in November,

John Deere said the Ottumwa plant currently employs around 575 workers. In 2024, many workers for the agriculture company across the state were laid off, including locations in Des Moines, Ankeny, Waterloo, Urbandale, Davenport, Dubuque and Johnston. In 2024, over 1,600 Iowa John Deere employees were told they were going to be laid off.

John Deere Ottumwa Works is laying off 75 employees in February. The Iowa WARN website said the employees at the Deere location, at 928 E Vine Street in Ottumwa, were given notice on Monday. The layoffs are expected to take effect on Feb.
