Argentinian President Javier Milei mocked opposition efforts to impeach him amid accusations of fraud after a cryptocurrency he shared on social media crashed, inflicting big losses on those who bought in.

An Argentine judge was assigned on Monday to investigate President Javier Milei's role in promoting a cryptocurrency that crashed, the latest shockwave from a scandal that has threatened to slow the libertarian leader's momentum.

Milei could face an impeachment trial in Congress, opposition lawmakers said, after he touted a cryptocurrency which crashed soon after.

Singapore's opposition leader Pritam Singh has been found guilty of lying under oath to a parliamentary committee. A court imposed the maximum fine of S$7,000 ($5,223; £4,148) for each of two charges. Singh said that he would appeal against the conviction and sentence.

Pritam Singh, a member of Parliament and the head of the main opposition party, the Worker’s Party, was convicted on two counts of lying to a parliamentary committee under oath and was fined 7,000 Singaporean dollars, about $5,220, for each count. He plans to appeal.
