The New York Rangers scored on their first two shots on goal and cruised to a 7-2 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night.

The Rangers (5-0-1) opened a 4-0 lead 11 minutes into the game and chased Canadiens goalie Sam Montembault (four saves).

The New York Rangers (5-0-1) remain undefeated in regulation as they chased the Montreal Canadiens (2-4-1) out of their own building. In a 7-2 final, New York became the fourth team since 1990-91 to score at least four goals in each of their first six contests—they’re cruising.

After a strong 2023-24 performance, Slafkovsky secured his future with the Canadiens by signing an eight-year, $60.8 million contract extension in July. The Slovakian playmaker started this season strong, tallying a goal and five assists through Montreal's first six games.
