Evelyn “Dee” Stoops, mother of Kentucky football coach Mark Stoops, died early Tuesday morning at her home in Youngstown, Ohio.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Kentucky linebacker coach Mike Stoops announced on Wednesday the passing of his mother, Evelyn “Dee” Stoops. Evelyn Stoops is the matriarch of the Stoops football family. She was married to Ron Stoops, Sr., who was a coach, and four of their six children became coaches: Mark, Mike, Bob and Ron, Jr.

Mark’s brother and inside linebacker coach at UK, Mike Stoops, took to X to remember his mother and the impact she had on the Stoops family. “My family’s hearts are especially heavy today, as my mom, Evelyn “Dee Dee” Stoops has been reunited with her Lord and Savior and my dad, Ron Stoops, Sr,” he wrote.
