The Baton Rouge region can expect severe storms — including potential tornadoes — Saturday afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service, with wind gusts peaking at over 60 miles per hour. Meteorologist Philip Grigsby with the NWS in New Orleans said residents should stay alert and weather aware in case of tornado warnings.

The National Weather Service said a tornado warning is in effect for northwestern Livingston Parish and central East Baton Rouge Parish in southeastern Louisiana until 7:45 p.m.
