Iowa Hawkeyes football star running back Kaleb Johnson added to his 2024 highlight reel with a spectacular touchdown run vs Northwestern.

Kaleb Johnson rushed for 109 yards and three touchdowns, and backup quarterback Brendan Sullivan added another rushing touchdown, as Iowa defeated Northwestern 40-14 on Saturday.

The Iowa Hawkeyes certainly did not have an impressive offensive first half against the Northwestern Wildcats, but at least running back Kaleb Johnson gave them the lead heading into the locker room.

Iowa’s first three drives of the game with Sullivan at quarterback were three-and-outs. But the Hawkeyes broke through on the fourth with a five-play, 52-yard touchdown scoring drive. After mostly being bottled up to that point, Johnson broke through for a 26-yard score. Iowa took a 12-7 lead into halftime.

In a crowd of familiarity, Iowa football’s Mason Richman noticed something peculiar. The left tackle stood in the huddle as the Hawkeyes began their opening drive of the second half in their season opener against Illinois State.

Iowa running back Kaleb Johnson should cross the 1,000-yard path in Game 7, and Iowa State should get to 7-0 for the first time in 86 years.
