Sifting through the sands of the Egyptian desert, archaeologists looked for the telltale signs of ancient ruins. One ancient “well” caught their attention — and turned out to be the entrance of a forgotten tomb.

Egypt has unveiled several discoveries near the famed city of Luxor including ancient rock-cut tombs and burial shafts dating back 3,600 years.

A team of archeologists in Egypt have discovered the 4,000-year-old tomb of a renowned royal doctor who was likely a venom expert. The remains were uncovered in Saqqara, the site of the ancient city of Memphis,

“A joint French-Swiss archaeological mission has uncovered the mastaba tomb of a royal physician named ‘Teti Neb Fu’ in the southern part of Saqqara, dating back to the Old Kingdom during the reign of King Pepi II,” the ministry announced in a Jan. 6 Facebook post.

The tomb of an ancient Egyptian royal physician, who also had the role of being a magician, has been unearthed in Saqqara.
