An Altadena, Calif., resident came home after being displaced by the Eaton fire to find a large black bear still hanging out underneath his property.

A California man returned to his Altadena home after the Eaton Fire and discovered a 525-pound bear had taken up residence in his crawlspace.

Samy Arbid had a surprise guest hiding out at his Altadena home when he finally returned to the neighborhood after the Eaton Fire.

The bear was found in a crawl space under an Altadena home that had been evacuated during the Eaton fire, wildlife officials said.

Utility workers were in for a fright when they went to try to turn the gas on to this Altadena home after the Eaton Fire tore through the area. A large male black bear was hiding under the home, and he may have been there hiding as the fires were burning.

Wildlife officials found that the massive was too large to be tranquilized and resorted to placing treats inside a bear trap to help lure him out
