Those expecting a plethora of points Saturday afternoon at Canvas Stadium were no doubt surprised, if not disappointed. But Colorado State did what it needed to do and beat New Mexico 17-6 to keep its Mountain West Conference title hopes alive.

New Mexico's vaunted offense scored just six points against Colorado State. The Rams now have three wins in a row and a Mountain West dream is alive.

FORT COLLINS — Colorado State doesn’t care how ugly it looks, a win is a win. Even in a game in which the Rams were outgained by over 100 yards, they still managed to continue their winning ways with a 17-6 homecoming victory over New Mexico that improves them to 5-3 on the season and 3-0 in the Mountain West.

CSU is proud of the effort in snapping that long drought against an in-state rival, but all the talk about history is over. The Rams certainly don’t care that they’ve beaten their next opponent 12 straight times and haven’t lost to them since 2009.
