A winter weather advisory will remain in effect for all of north Alabama until 10 a.m. The National Weather Service in Huntsville said black ice will be possible on roads until temperatures rise above freezing. The weather service thinks that most spots in north Alabama will inch above 32 degrees between noon and 3 p.m. today.

In north Alabama, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office has issued a travel advisory due to ice-coated bridges and roads. Many roads in the country are unsafe for travel, officials said, and “we strongly advise against venturing onto the roads today.”

Forecasters remain concerned over icy conditions in part of Alabama following snowfall that blanketed parts of the state. Temperatures that warmed in the afternoon could freeze this morning when the mercury was expected to drop.
