This was such a lovely day! We did the free guided tour and our tour guide was fantastic! We learned so much about the Battle of Hastings and the tour guide really brought it to life!Full review by Wanda L

I noticed that there was a wheelchair accessible doorway into the building, the pathways were marked as wheelchair/ pushchair route and there was an exit through the grounds marked as only for those pushing either of the two. The paths are pea gravel and there were puddles after rain and there are sloping ramps. You can’t access the undercroft so I’m not sure what you would see of the building ruins. The visitors’ centre has stairs but I’m sure there’s a lift and the cafe is on the garden level. The disabled parking spaces are close to the entrance if you have a blue badge. I’m not a wheelchair user but I have been accustomed to taking out my elderly mother when she was able to go outdoors.
We may not be able to arrive before 5 pm. I presume we can see the battlefield even after the visitor center closes? Is anything else accessible after 5 pm?

If the says ‘ closed’ then I do not expect you can see the battlefield. It’s part of the paid ‘self tour’ experience within the facility of the Abby. To enter into the site you are required to walk through the main reception and then access all areas. The battlefield is within the walls protected by the English heritage site and is therefore chargeable. Call them and I’m sure they can advise further.
How much is it to enter? We are adults. Can you just wander as you please without a guide?

Can't remember the exact price but It's expensive. I recommend going on a fine day. Get an audio guide and walk around the Battlefield. It was the highlight for me.
