I am 21 and went completely alone. There are certain sections which are very tailored to kids such as experiment sections where they can touch and play but even that had things to read. The major museum when I went had a section on code breaking which was very adult dealing with spies and the war. If you are interested in the engineering and scientific history of Manchester it is perfect for adults too just may not take you a whole day more of an afternoon trip.
I’ve heard that you can no longer see the aircraft displays (Shackleton etc). Is that true?

There were problems with rain coming in through roof in October when we visited. Might be advisable to phone ahead as the problem may have been rectified by now.
